Meeting the Team: Interview With Darcy Curry Part 1

A Look Behind the Company: This personal Interview with Branded Innovation Operations Manager, Darcy Curry, will show you why this SEO agency is quickly becoming number one in it’s industry.

In part one of our interview blog, we had the honor of interviewing Doug Holt, CEO of Branded Innovation. Today, we present a team member from the company itself, Darcy Curry. Darcy, otherwise known as the “Queen of Operations” is a 2012 Communication graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Since graduating, Darcy has joined the Branded Innovation team as an Operations Manager. Along with Branded Innovation, Darcy is also a member of Fitness Professional Online, Conditioning Specialists, Doug Holt Online, and Santa Barbara Fitness Magazine. Her specialties range from seo and online marketing to fitness and personal training. I have had the pleasure of personally working with Darcy as an intern for the company, and she can only be described as a charming socialite who knows how to get the job done.

For this interview, I decided to break down the categories into 8 professional questions about seo and Branded Innovation itself, and 8 personal questions which will let us get to know the real Darcy Curry.

Q: How would you describe your time at Branded Innovation?

A: “I would describe my time at Branded Innovation as fun, challenging, and rewarding. Here is a little secret-the people at Branded are what make this company one of the best to work at and with. Believe me, we know how to have a LOT of fun, but also recognize the importance of working hard for our clients. While we get along very well, most of the time you will see us hard at work meeting another client’s tough expectations. Being around like-minded people who also have a passion to help others achieve their dreams is the reason I look forward to coming to work everyday. We are a silly group of ambitious individuals who love to learn and encourage one another to grow and challenge ourselves. Our ultimate goal is helping our clients succeed in their respective industry, and everytime I see a client show their gratitude for our work, I remember why Branded Innovation has become less of a job, and more of a home.”

Q: Branded Innovation is known to work using only white hat techniques. Why do you think this is important in the industry?

A: “I think white hat seo is crucial in our industry because it promotes integrity, keeps things fair, and forces companies to improve the way they operate. If the only way to obtain more business and easily get found online is by receiving a huge flow of organic traffic through the production of quality content, then companies will work substantially harder to earn a higher rank in search engines by following the rules.”

Q: What event led you into the world of SEO?

A: “To be honest, I’m not even sure, it just kind of happened. I started working with Doug on some of our sister businesses about 2 years ago. While working there, I learned the importance of SEO when it comes to becoming successful. After realizing my growing interest in the field, I began practicing SEO and other internet marketing techniques in those businesses. I wasn’t very good at first, but thankfully Doug was kind enough to share his wealth of knowledge with me and teach me all about the world of SEO. Since then, I have not imagined a place I would rather be or a field I could truly see myself happily a part of.”

Q: In your point of view, what makes Branded Innovation stand out among usual SEO companies?

A: “I think the people we have on our team definitely make us stand out above the rest. Not only do we know what we are doing, but we are thoroughly invested in our clients and their dreams. They are our priority. We understand that internet marketing, SEO, and creating a new website can be quite complicated, so we strive to make our clients feel taken care of while creating an amazing end product that reflects our clients’ vision.”

Q: What are your greatest strengths and how do you use them to improve Branded Innovation?

A: “I think a few of my greatest strengths are my ability to really understand people, as well as being able to break down complicated terms into simple explanations for our clients. I use these strengths when interacting with current and potential clients. I love getting to know people and creating a relationship with them – I genuinely want to help them and see them succeed, something which I am sure stands out to clients. I think they like seeing someone so invested in their work who doesn’t believe that there is such a thing as a stupid question. Choosing to invest in your internet marketing and your website is a daunting task, and I want our clients to know they have very approachable people that are a phone call away whenever they need anything at all.”

Q: How has it been like working alongside Doug Holt at Branded Innovation?

A: “I hate to say too many nice things, it always goes to his head, but I’ll make an exception and brag about how awesome he is just this once. Working alongside Doug has been such an amazing and fun experience. I have seen such a growth in myself since starting to work with him a few years ago and I know a lot of that is because of him. He is a great example to everyone around him with the integrity he holds and the way he cares about others and puts them first. He has about 50 great ideas every other day and is never afraid to think outside the box and push the limits to make something great turn into something amazing. I feel so honored to work by his side and have him in my corner.”

Q: What do you view as the future of Branded Innovation?

A: “I think Branded Innovation is on its way to doing some amazing things in the coming years. The goal has always been to help as many people and businesses as possible and I know that we will be able to do that in some very creative ways. The team at Branded Innovation is always thinking ahead and thinking of ways to be ahead of the game. I think we will take the industry by surprise.”

Q: In the perspective of a customer, why would you choose Branded Innovation?

A: “Like I mentioned before – our team. We don’t just want to do your SEO and talk to you once or twice about billing, we want to help you find your ideal company vision and your dream and take it all to the next step. Because we understand the difficulties of running a business, we also understand that investing in your internet marketing, website, or SEO is no small task. We take it all seriously and make sure to guide you throughout the entire process. This is why I would choose Branded Innovation, I love being encouraged in my dreams and I love being taken care of when I don’t understand.”
